An Org Chart is a mind map of people. Each node shows an initials disc, the person's name and their role, and the chart grows downward with each report hung off an elbow line under their manager. Use it for teams, service ownership or any tree of things with a name and a role.
It sits in the palette's Diagrams category (Build Elements), after Mind Node.
Take the tour
Select a person in an org chart and press Start Org Chart Tour in the bar along the bottom of the editor, just left of Search, for a short walkthrough on your own chart: the name, role and initials, adding a report (Tab) or a peer (Enter), moving a whole team, and the Mind Map menu. The button stays there while it is selected, so you can take the tour again whenever you like. (Element tours aren't offered on a phone.)
Building one
Place the Org Chart tile and it drops one person, ready to rename. With a person selected:
- Tab adds a report below them.
- Enter adds a peer beside them.
Type the name straight away. The chart lays itself out after every change.
To write a role, select the person and click the line under their name. The initials come from the name: "Ana Kim" shows "AK".
Everything a mind map does
An org chart is a mind map with a person look, so everything in Mind Maps works here: drag a manager and their whole team comes too, Tidy Map straightens it, and Edit Outline edits it as indented text.
